Can you believe that Dash, our African spurred tortoise, is going to be 30 years old! Join us for a day of fun celebrating her big day! We will have party hats, photo op opportunities, tortoise craft, face painting and we will have an ice cream food truck! The African spurred tortoise (Centrochelys sulcata) is the world’s largest mainland tortoise. It’s also known as the sulcata tortoise or African spur thigh tortoise. Can grow to be 36 inches long and weigh over 200 pounds! Their shells are part of their skeleton, permanently attached to their spine and rib cage. Dash has been a fan favorite at our zoo for years!
